Georgian President names Giorgi Kvirikashvili for Prime Minister
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaPresident of Georgia has named an acting Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili for the role again, President Giorgi Margvelashvili issued a relevant decree late yesterday, Agenda.ge reports.
Based on the Georgian legislation Parliamentary majority offers a candidate for the Prime Minister’s position and the President officially nominates the pick for the role.
The ruling Georgian Dream- Democratic Georgia party gained 115 seats in the 150-member legislative body in the wake of the last month’s Parliamentary Elections and formed a majority.
The new Parliament has already elected its Speaker, Vice Speakers, formed majority, minority and factions, as well as Parliamentary committees. One of the members of the ruling party Kakha Kaladze announced the Prime Minister nominee will present a new Cabinet of Minister next week and the legislative body will vote for them.
Kvirikashvili and new ministers will need the support of at least 76 lawmakers to be officially confirmed.
Kvirikashvili was appointed as Prime Minister on December 30 last year, Agenda.ge recalls.
