Deputy chief of military staff killed in car explosion in Vladikavkaz

A car-bomb exploded at around 7am this morning on the main highway to Nazran on the outskirts of Vladikavkaz, killing the occupant, the deputy chief of the military staff deployed in Ingushetia, Alexander Orlov, RIA Novosti reports.

He was taken to hospital with severe injuries, according to North Ossetian Interior Ministry press-service head Alla Akhpolova. She said Orlov was heading for active service in Ingushetia, when what could have been a clock mechanism detonated the device under the back left bumper of the car. An investigation is continuing.
