Earthquake in Iran

An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted the city of Ardakan in the Iranian province of Fars, Trend reports. There are no reports of casualties yet. The tremors were also felt in Kohgiluye province and the Yasuc area in Boyerahmad province.

The Seismological Center at Tehran University's Geophysics Institute reported that the quake took place at 09:25 a.m.

The quake damaged houses in 17 villages in Fars province. Some of them were completely destroyed. About 18 people received injuries.

On December 20 an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale took place in Fahroc, killing 7 and wounding hundreds, while also damaging houses in over 2,950 villages in Kerman province.
