Russian President urges to prevent erosion of Constitution
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRussian President Vladimir Putin said at a congress of judges in Moscow that it would be impermissible to let erosion harm the country’s Constitution.
"In the early 2000s we exerted very strenuous attempts, very fundamental attempts were those, possibility not very visible to outsiders, but it was great work to ensure the uniform understanding and application of constitutional norms all over Russia’s territory," TASS cited Putin as saying.
He pointed out that was done "not for letting that Constitution to be eroded from some other side." "We are determined to observe all of our international legal commitments, too," he added.
Putin’s remark followed a statement by the head of the Constitutional Court Valery Zorkin, who pointed to the need for observing the supremacy of the Constitution.
