The North Ossetian parliament will consider granting Taimuraz Mamsurov a second term as head of the republic on April 29, RIA Novosti reports, citing a parliamentary statement.

On April 23, President Dmitry Medvedev suggested that Mamsurov should be appointed head of the republic of North Ossetia-Alania for a second term.

"This issue will be resolved by a vote in parliament," the statement said.

In 2005, Mamsurov became the first head of the republic to be appointed rather than voted into power.
