Orthodox world celebrates Christmas on January 7

The orthodox world celebrates Christmas on the 7th of January. Festive celebrations will take place in the churches of Russia, Georgia, Serbia and Greece.

The main Christmas liturgy in Moscow will be held at the Christ the Saviour Cathedral and by the Patriarch of All Russia, Kirill. Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II will celebrate a festive mass in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Tbilisi.

For Orthodox believers Christmas ends a 40-day Advent fast, which began on the 28th of November.
