KCA Deutag signs contract with BP on managing drilling work in Caspian Region

KCA Deutag has signed a contract with the UK’s BP, operator of the
Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shakh-Deniz fields in the Azerbaijani sector
of the Caspian Sea, to manage all the drilling work of BP in the
Caspian Region, Trend reports on Friday.


The contract lasts 5 years and can be prolonged by 5 more.
Approximately 700 people are working on the KCA Deutag projects, over
500 of them are Azerbaijani citizens. The Chirag drilling platform
belongs to KCA Deutag and is rented by BP.


KCA Deutag started operating in Azerbaijan in 1997. It is currently
designing a new platform on the Chirag field, planned for 2013.


KCA Deutag works on 32 platforms, including platforms in the UK,
Norway, the Caspian Sea and Sakhalin Island. KCA Deutag is also
operating on the CABGOC platform in Angola.
