Kubachi Plant's museum named after Rasul Alikhanov
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaKubachi is different from the other villages of Dagestan because here one cultivates not the soil, but the skills to work with precious metals. During Soviet times up to 800 people worked at the Kubachi plant. Three and a half tons of silver were processed each year. The production were exported, and many items were exhibited at international exhibitions, where 18 of them were awarded gold and silver medals, in particular: 1958 - Brussels (Belgium), 1967 - Montreal (Canada), 1970 - Osaka (Japan) 1981 - Zagreb (Yugoslavia), 1982 - Copenhagen (Denmark), 1982 - Dusseldorf (Germany) - gold medals, Leipzig, Oklahoma, Istanbul, etc ..
Kubachi items were the hallmark of the USSR crafts as the Khokhloma handcraft, Palekh miniature painting and Zhostovo painting. The museum of Kubachi named after Rasul Alikhanov contains masterpieces made by the local artists in the 20th century and a few rarities of the past centuries. There are very funny items like a silver profile of Lenin rimmed with a Kubachi ornament or a luxury carpet embroidered with the emblem of the Soviet Union ("to the 60th anniversary of the Union").
