Putin congratulates Sevastopol on Day of People’s Will and Defender of Fatherland Day
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRussian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the people of Sevastopol on the Day of People’s Will and Defender of the Fatherland Day.
He recalled that February 23, 2014 became a truly momentous day for Sevastopol, when thousands of its residents rose up in unity to oppose the coup d’etat, stood up against the radical nationalist forces, which tried to intimidate everyone who resisted the abuses and unlawfulness with their aggressive actions.
"Sevastopol residents demonstrated firmness and courage, defended their native city, and together with all the people of Crimea displayed a strong will to be with Russia. The hearts of our country’s people were with you during those difficult times," the President stressed.
Putin noted that the legendary, glorious Sevastopol is rightly proud of its heroic history and outstanding patriotic, cultural and spiritual traditions. He said that now they have a great deal to do to secure its stable and prosperous future: they must develop the economy and city infrastructure, healthcare and education, and create modern jobs.
"I am confident that we will achieve these important and large-scale goals,” the President concluded.
