Uzbek President arrives in Turkmenistan

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyaev has arrived in Turkmenistan on his first official foreign trip since taking office in December.

Mirziyaev met with the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov at the Oguzhan presidential palace in Ashgabat on March 6 to discuss bilateral ties.

During his two-day visit, Mirziyaev is expected to visit the eastern city of Turkmenabat to attend the opening ceremony of a memorial complex honoring the late Uzbek President Islam Karimov, RFE/RL reported.
