Cooperation will make EU, Azerbaijan stronger - European Commission head

Azerbaijan and the European Union need to work together in solving
problems, President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso
,said today in his speech at the Baku State University, Trend reports.

Barrosso named mutually dependent economy, ecological catastrophes,
and terrorist groups using Internet to recruit members as examples of
the topical issues in Spain, Germany and Azerbaijan.

He said that working on the problems together will make the EU and
Azerbaijan stronger. Improving ties between the institutions and
members of the EU and Azerbaijan will promote the transformation
effect.

Barroso said that democracy, supremacy of law, freedom of speech are
important values of the EU concept. They are aimed at achieving
stability and prosperity.

The EU official said that the European Union is a reliable partner.

The EU delegation, headed by its president Jose Manuel Barroso,
arrived in Baku on January 13. It is the first visit of Barroso as the
president of the commission. He is assisted by the European
Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger.
