Turkish Foreign Minister arrives in Baghdad

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu arrived in Baghdad early on Sunday to hold talks with Iraqi officials, Trend cites Anadolu Agency.

Davutoglu will meet with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari. Davutoglu will also have meetings with Iraqi Parliamentary Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi and Iraqi political leaders including Al-Iraqiyah Party Chairman Ayad Allawi, who is set to assume the presidency of the soon-to-be-established Council of National Strategic Policies of Iraq.

Davutoglu's visit will be the first since the new Iraqi government was formed last month. His talks will focus on bilateral relations as well as regional issues. Davutoglu and Turkish diplomats will also discuss preparations for future actions as part of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council, established between the two countries in 2008.
