USA plans no arms shipments to Georgia in near future

the Pentagon, Wendy Snyder, said on Friday, PRIME-TASS reports.
Before the visit of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili to
Washington, some media sources reported that the administration of
Barack Obama had expressed readiness to ship anti-missile and
anti-tank systems through third countries.
The US Assistant Defense Secretary for International Security Vershbow
made a speech after the events in August 2008 at the senate committee
for international affairs. He said that the USA is not rearming
Georgia. Vershbow said that the Pentagon is helping Georgia on its way
to creating armed forces capable of cooperating with NATO and is
training and equipping Georgian forces in Afghanistan.
