Erdoğan threatens Germany with revolt of Turks

The diplomatic row between Turkey and Germany in connection with the refusal of a number of German cities to allow the representatives of the Turkish government to meet with the Turkish voters in Germany continues to gain momentum. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking to his supporters at a rally in Istanbul, said: "If I want to, I will come [to Germany] tomorrow." Referring to the German authorities, Erdogan said: "I will come, and if you do not let me to give an address, I'll arrange a revolt." A day earlier, the President of Turkey had accused Germany in using of the ‘Nazi methods’ and rebuked the country that it has nothing to do with democracy.’

Thus, the Turkish leader actually challenged openly the government of Germany, which is already under the enormous pressure of the German public. "Slowly, the situation becomes absolutely excruciating for the federal government. The diplomacy is one way or another, but it is necessary to show this gentleman a border. We are not a Turkish province Almania, but the Federal Republic of Germany, and here is the rule of our laws. Firstly, he threatened us with the refugee deal, due to which our government has made us vulnerable to blackmail. Now he threatens to arrange an uprising here, if not everything is in accordance with his will. it is time to show Erdogan, who has more influence, " the popular user’s comment on the Tagesschau news page in the social networks reads.

Meanwhile, after the ban on meetings in Cologne and Frechen was applied, the Minister of Economy of Turkey, Nihat Zeybekchi, received an opportunity to meet with German Turks in Leverkusen. However, his address was much more gentle than President Erdogan’s. Following Zeybekchi, another event is expected in Germany tomorrow- this time with a participation of Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Hamburg.

We shell note, that the governments of the Netherlands and Austria opposed openly  the campaign by the Turkish politicians in these countries, and many German citizens  expect a similar tough stance in their country. However, unlike Amsterdam and Vienna, Berlin continues to maintain a very cautious position.

Thus, Justice Minister Heiko Maas spoke against the ban on Erdogan’s address in Germany. "He wants to provoke us, and we should not give in to it,’’ says Maas. "If we ban the Turkish President from entering the country, it will certainly lead to the rupture of the diplomatic relations between Germany and Turkey. The result will be a further escalation, which no one is interested in. This would also lead to the freezing of the negotiations. And here it is necessary to ask ourselves, whether we will be able to help the arrested journalist Deniz Yücel, when we no longer have such contacts,’’ the Minister of Justice of Germany said.

All the leading politicians in Germany angrily rejected Erdogan’s allegations  in fascism and the absence of democracy, calling them unacceptable and disgusting.
