50th issue of Baku magazine

Editor-in-chief Leyla Aliyeva wrote an article for the 50th issue

"It seems so little time has passed since the day when the very first issue was signed to print and now comes the fiftieth. Each of the fifty has its own stories, its own heroes and, of course,  its own destiny. All of them together and individually fully comply with its landmark title. Indeed, each issue, starting with the editor’s column and ending with gossip column, is permeated with the spirit of Baku.

Opening the journal you plunge into the atmosphere of this beautiful city, you feel the unique charm of its people, you get a charge of vivacity and optimism. Whatever the weather is outside, and no matter where are you, ‘Baku’ always grants you the sun and the heat, tells something new, entertains, and amuses sometimes.

The more people come to Baku, the more people are reading the magazine. And vice versa: everyone who reads us, sooner or later begins to look for and find an opportunity to come to the city. At least for a short period. But a few days are enough to be charmed by Baku and continue meeting with it on the pages of our magazine. All this has been achieved by the efforts of the editorial board, and with the help of our readers. This is our common success.

Anyone who has visited Baku particularly recalls the unique Russian-speaking environment of the city. Obviously, it is impossible to create by any decree or edict, it is impossible not to fall in love with the singing Russian language of Baku's inhabitants. First of all, because it is a living, dynamic language of the people, for whom it is infinitely dear. Maybe this is predetermined by a demand for Russian culture in Baku.

I myself like most about our magazine that fact that it encompasses all the genres except boring. Perhaps, that is why readers travel with us throughout Azerbaijan, prepare according to our recipes, rethink our common history, get acquainted with talented Baku inhabitants living in different parts of the world. Thanks to ‘Baku’ we all get a little closer to each other. Apparently, this is the surest way to an atmosphere of tolerance, mutual understanding and respect, without which tomorrow is impossible," the editor-in-chief of ‘Baku’ Leyla Aliyeva said.
