Al-Monitor: "Turkey risks the international isolation"

The British edition of the analytical publication Business Insider wrote that Turkey has started a dangerous game against Russia, which could lead to the triumph of ISIS. The decision of the Turkish authorities to deploy a military contingent in the fortress of Mosul, which is located in Iraq, near the location of the ISIS contingent, has outraged the Iraqi officials, who called such a move  a violation of Iraq's sovereignty. Among the harshest critics of Turkey was Russia, which has called the decision to deploy the Turkish troops ‘illegal’ and applied the UN Security Council to hold a meeting on the issue.

The fact is that the deployment of the Turkish troops in Mosul prevents joint Russian-Iranian-Iraqi plans to strengthen their positions in Baghdad to support the fight against ISIS in northern Iraq. If Turkey continues to deploy troops on the Iraqi territory, it will lead to further escalation of the conflict between the Republic of Turkey on the one hand and Russia and Iran on the other. Of course, the Kremlin has all the necessary means to expel the Turkish troops from Iraq, but it is unlikely that Russian leadership will take such a step in view of the fact that Turkey is the NATO member, and any misstep from Moscow may provoke the West to open confrontation.

Obviously, in this situation Turkey decided to use its NATO membership as a bargaining chip in the conflict with Russia, thus trying to influence Moscow’s success  in the fight against ISIS. Growing influence of the  Baghdad-Tehran-Damascus alliance can not but worry the Turkish leadership that has lost control in the Middle East region and is ready to do everything to keep its positions.

Despite the claims of the Republic of Turkey that it is actively involved in the fight against ISIS on the side of the Western coalition, in fact, it is about the division of spheres of influence, which, in turn, only worsens the situation in the Middle East. Trying every way to prove its power and influence, Turkey, according to many analysts, does nothing but provides assistance to the ISIS militants, which  can take advantage of the weakness of the Western allies and strike back at any moment. But do not forget that Russia is certainly not remain aloof from the events and try to stabilize the situation in the near future.

The international publication Al-Monitor wrote that Erdogan  threats Iran. The Iranian officials on the part of the administration of Rouhani, and the councilors of the supreme leader,  have attempted to curb the escalation of the crisis between Russia and Turkey. Since these efforts have failed, there are more and more reports of the growing gap between Iran and Turkey.

Turkish media reported that during a telephone conversation between the leaders of the two countries, Erdogan expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that Iran takes the position of Russia, not Turkey. Despite this aggression on the part of the Turkish leadership, Tehran is doing everything possible in order not to aggravate relations with the strategic partner, which recently has been carrying out a very questionable policy towards Russia, Iraq and Syria. Ankara, in turn, has openly stated that if Iran continues its "hostile attitude" towards Turkey, the partnership between the two countries will be phased out.

Apparently, Turkey has decided to show the world that its position is more significant than it might seem at first glance. Probably, the support of the Western countries inspires confidence in the Turkish leadership, but do not forget that the West's position in relation to its strategic partners can vary depending on external conditions, and if this happens with regard to Turkey, the state risks the international isolation , having lost all of its allies and partners.
