Axis of Logic: "Three reasons why Saudi Arabia hates Iran"

The British analytical publication CapX wrote that the West is losing to Russia. The geopolitical situation prevailing in the Middle East has allowed Russia to begin restoring its status as a triumphant playerbafter a year and a half of a hard confrontation and fighting for its place in the world political arena. The inconsistent policies of the US and its allies has led to the situation in the Middle East escalating so far that the Kremlin had to intervene to ensure that the region as a whole was not absorbed by the military conflict.

The United States has nothing that could oppose Russia's actions except for meaningless statements about the need to overthrow the current regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. Unfortunately, America and Britain are so carried away with the idea of ‘exporting democracy’ that they have lost any sense of realpolitik. Saddam has been replaced by ‘democracy’, Gaddafi has been also replaced by ‘democracy.’ However, the pro-Western democratic forces could not contain the spread of jihadism in the Middle East. This can be done only by the leaders of the countries to which the hands of the West have not yet reached.

Vladimir Putin is well aware of what the real policy is and recognizes the right of any country to defend its statehood by its partners and allies. That is why the Russian government helps Bashar Assad to fight ISIS, an organization which in turn poses a threat to Russia.

The West has repeatedly had opportunities to deal with terrorism in the Middle East, however the leaders of Europe and the United States prefer to impose their own interests. And that is why they lost. Now Russia is entering the scene with an uncompromising understanding of realpolitik.

The independent US publication Axis of Logic wrote about the reasons for the confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Everyone knows that Saudi Arabia, the center of Sunni Islam, does not accept Iran, because it is the center of the Shia Muslims that is ultimately one of the reasons for the confrontation between the two states.

The second reason is the Allies. Saudi Arabia has the United States as a partner and Iran has Russia, and this is also well known. But there is a third, little-known reason why the government of Saudi Arabia hates Iran.

The fact is that the Gulf Cooperation Council is comprised only of the monarchies of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar and Oman. And Iran, the most powerful state in the Middle East, is a republic. For Saudi Arabia, the mere fact that Muslims can live in a republic and not just under a monarchy is unacceptable. The leaders of Saudi Arabia have repeatedly stated that a Muslim country must be a monarchy and no other state association should exist. However, the example of Iran undermines this assertion.

But then, why doesn't the US, which strongly supports any manifestation of democracy and pluralism of political opinion, support Iran, instead supporting Saudi Arabia? The fact is that it is much easier to manage countries which do not have representative institutions and do not reflect the will of their people. As is the case in Saudi Arabia and other monarchies of the Cooperation. Almost all of them are US allies. Iran, in spite of its ideological authoritarianism, has a parliament, an electoral system, and in contrast to other Gulf countries provides some space for women's participation in public life. That is, Iran, as a country, has much more potential for development than the same Saudi Arabia. Although both countries are leaders in the region, Iran has a greater chance of finally consolidating its position, and the biggest advantage of this is that the Republic does not intend to liaise with the United States and allow the pro-Western forces to control their decisions.
