Yesterday, the Vernadsky State Geological Museum held the opening of the photography exhibition 'Beauty of Iran', demonstrating the historical and cultural richness of the Islamic Republic. The exposition includes 25 photographs, telling about the ethnographic heritage, natural diversity, fine arts, as well as the latest achievements of the Iranian people.
The ceremony was opened by the Russian scientist, Director of the Vernadsky Museum (2012-2015) Yury Malyshev: "Today we have the honor to touch the thousand-year history of Iran. I was lucky to be in Iran. Persian carpets, Persian engraving, stone carving and beautiful buildings show Iran's greatness. Despite some sanctions, Iran is developing, its culture and science are also developing".
The deputy head of the Iranian Embassy in the Russian Federation, Heydarian Ahmad, expressed hope that the exhibition will be the next step in the development of bilateral ties: "There are beautiful panoramas, historical sites and attractions throughout Iran. Today, my friends have made tremendous efforts in order to show you a drop from this ocean of beauty. I hope that this exhibition will serve as a basis to bring our two peoples even closer".
The First Deputy General Director of the State Museum of Oriental Art, Tatiana Metaxa, told Vestnik Kavkaza: "When there are such bright, sunny photographs of Iran of the sky's and turquoise color around you, your heart is filled with joy. Acquaintance with this country, its multifaceted culture - it's great. Especially in the walls of this historic building, whose windows look on our Kremlin. It is so magnificent".
The exhibition will last until February 5.
