CSTO will not interfere in the Karabakh conflict by using military force

"The political and military-political upheavals in the region are forcing Armenia to seek real allies,’’ Yerevan has said many times, blaming Moscow for selling arms to Azerbaijan. The Armenian side's logic is that since Russia and Armenia are members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), then Moscow is indirectly violating the provisions of the Treaty on non-participation in actions against members of the CSTO by selling arms to Azerbaijan. Yerevan has repeatedly stated about the ‘insolvency of the CSTO bloc’, which is not going to interfere in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the side of Armenia.

The Collective Security Treaty Organization only shrugs in response to these attacks and repeats its position of non-interference in the conflict. Yesterday, CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha drew clear lines, stating the need for a political settlement. ‘’All conflicts must be solved by peaceful means. I have great experience in resolving conflicts by force. I saw how they started and with what difficulty they ended. We are ready to provide assistance in precisely the political resolution of problems, including the Caucasus one, in order to avoid bloodshed, the killing of civilians and soldiers, young guys, to have an opportunity to find a mutually acceptable solution by political means. In this sense, we will always help.’’

Bordyuzha emphasized that ‘the CSTO as an organization does not intervene in the conflicts that exist today." "There are international institutions created, for example, for the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, for the inter-Ukrainian conflict, in other areas. These international institutions must operate under the auspices of the UN, with the support of all the states, using the political potential both of the leaders and the states. This is our position, we will adhere to it,’’ the CSTO Secretary General said.
