Islamabad has recently expressed an interest in signing a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC). Pakistan's Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, said that the agreement will open up new routes for the development of fruitful cooperation. Pakistan's ambassador to the Russian Federation, Aslam Zaheer Janjua, is sure that the EAEC is becoming an important regional organization, because such cooperation has a positive impact on regional integration.
Yefim Pivovar, Rector of the Russian State Humanitarian University said in the former Soviet Union other trends of integration were working and they are working now, which means they are not even without Russia, but in opposition to Russia. Finally, such projects, if they are implemented, they are going to be not only against Russia, but I would say, they will impugn the post-Soviet space, and global elements, the Russian Federation as a stabilizing factor in this process.
We have managed to find a consensus, to find a compromise of this trend, alternatives that are more or less satisfying for everyone. They are following. First, of course, is economic integration. The main result of this process is undoubtedly the EAEC.
Pivovar spoke about the success of a number of post-Soviet countries, which conduct a multi-vector policy, and as he head of the Russia- Azerbaijan Society, he cited the example of Baku: "This success is present, it allows Azerbaijan, I'm afraid to jinx it, to represent one of the stabilizing elements of the space as a whole today.»
At the same time the rector of Russian State Humanitarian University noted the threats to Eurasian integration, ‘’several crises have occured. When I spoke about Azerbaijan, we should not forget, of course the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict that undeniably exists, there are the problems with Karabakh, which, of course, have not disappeared, they require further efforts of the analytical community, politicians and academic experts. Moreover, there is a need for a very careful attitude to the problem from all sides. There are conflicts that have arisen in recent years. Of course, the bleeding wound of the internal crisis, political, economic and social crisis that is taking place in Ukraine. And we also should take this crisis into account while analysing the EAEC and its possibilities. By the way, at the heart of this crisis there are also huge economic problems. "
Rector of the Russian State Humanitarian University recalled that on the boundaries of our community there is a very serious situation in Iraq and, in general, in the Middle East, which is associated with the creation of this monster, Islamic State without borders, and, I would say, without commitment. All this taken together demonstrates how relevant this issue is. Of course, I cannot say I'm satisfied with what is being done in this sphere. It seems to me that effort must be made as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
