Opening of automobile section of the Crimean bridge happened today. Opening of railway section of this bridge is planned for the end of 2019. 19 kilometers bridge became the longest in Russia and Europe. It starts on the Taman Peninsula, passes through a five-kilometer dam and Tuzla Island, crosses the Kerch Strait and reaches Crimean coast.
Muslim Ummah of Crimea, which also celebrates beginning of the holy month of Ramadan after sunset, considered opening of the Crimean bridge a symbolic and significant event.
Ayder Ismailov, deputy chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Republic of Crimea, said: "Crimea and probably the entire Russia celebrate two holidays - and beginning of Ramadan and opening of the Crimean bridge. This event, which we have been waiting for a long time, will strengthen our ties. I believe that improvement of infrastructure and logistics on the eve of Ramadan is a symbolic and significant event."
Head of the republic Sergey Aksyonov already congratulated Crimean Muslims on
this holy month: "Ramadan personifies kindness, love and compassion. On this month, all Muslims begin a great post, which tests strength of their faith, nobility of deeds and concern for one's neighbor. These values are important for all peoples, they contribute to strengthening of moral foundations of society. Let this blessed month fill hearts with harmony and help to strengthen peace and harmony in Crimea."
