On April 2nd, the finalist of the musical TV show The Voice, Emil Kadyrov, and stars of the TV show sang songs of Muslim Magomayev in the Council Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. Emil Kadyrov is thought to be one of the best performers of Magomayev’s songs among young artists. The song ‘Blue Eternity’ brought the biggest number of points to Kadyrov on The Voice according to audience voting.

Magomayev’s hits ‘You Are My Melody,’ ‘Oh, This Wedding,’ ‘Blue Eternity,’ ‘A Song about Baku,’ ‘Buchenwald Alarm Bell,’ ‘Ferris Wheel,’ ‘Slow Down,’ and many others were sung.

Vestnik Kavkaza interviewed Emil Kadyrov before the concert.

-          It is the most responsible concert at the moment – there will be many spectators, and the hall is so big. Of course I am nervous and excited, but I hope everything will be great. This is a memorial concert. We have dedicated it to Muslim Magomayev. We will sing his songs in the first part of the concert and songs from The Voice in the second part, these will be South American songs, Spanish songs. I think the concert will be interesting.

-          What does Muslim Magomayev mean for you?

-          This is the person because of whom I started to sing. I heard his song ‘A Ray of The Golden Sun’ when I was a child. Today I will sing it too.

-          What are your plans for the future?

-          Next year we plan tour all over the country. We’ll see whether it will happen or not. I have recently been to Baku. In late May or early June I will visit Baku with a concert.

The singer Alla Rid also answered Vestnik Kavkaza’s questions: “We participated in The Voice together with Emil. We had a common tutor, Alexander Gradsky. We are good friends. Of course I was pleased and glad to take part in such a responsible concert. The hall is fabulous; the program and organization are great. So I’ve regarded the invitation with great fondness. I was very lucky to see one of the last performances of Muslim Magomayev and Tamara Sinyavskaya. It was a concert at the Russia Concert Hall. I was invited there by the legendary editor, Maria Mulyash. Magomayev was a unique singer. I remember how I was sitting enchanted in the hall. It is wonderful that there are young singers who continue traditions and sing his songs. His works are not forgotten and they live in the hearts of people.”

Singer Elena Romanova told Vestnik Kavkaza: “This is a great concert dedicated to works by Muslim Magomayev. We sing in this beautiful hall together with Emil Kadyrov, our close friend, our mate at The Voice, and, primarily, a prominent singer. It is big joy and honor for us to take part in such a wonderful concert. Everyone who has followed the musical show and our fate there understand that we are very close, and Emil has seriously influenced our joint songs. It was impossible not to come and not to support our friend. We will sing some songs together today, I hope the audience will enjoy them. We will be on stage together again, and probably it will be a new start for further cooperation.”

Elena Romanova

Elena Romanova pointed out that “Emil is one of few singers who sing such serious music, serious songs of the great singer Muslim Magomayev. Actually, there are no singers in our country who could sing like that. So when we found out that such a grand concert would be organized, we all wanted to participate in it. So, watch us, listen to us, and enjoy the concert together with us today.”
