The British publication The Guardian today published an appeal by a member of the UK Parliament, Daniel Kavchinski, who is insisting that, despite all the odds Europe should reconsider its relations with Russia. Being Polish, the MP writes that the differences with Moscow brought more harm to the United Kingdom than to Russia, and that there is no need for sanctions. Britain's economy has suffered significant losses due to the fact that relations with the Kremlin have deteriorated and there is a threat of further recession in the near future if sanctions are not lifted and trade relations restored.
According Kavchinski, Germany is less affected by sanctions because of the "long years of friendship" between Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin, and the leadership of the United Kingdom, too, should make an effort to restore diplomatic relations with Russia.
Besides, the world needs to think about countering terrorism, and without such a powerful partner as Russia it would be impossible to do. Finally, Daniel Kavchinski added that 70 years after the end of the Second World War, the international community should bear in mind the lessons that were learned then and try to combine their efforts, rather than oppose each other either economically or strategically.
The International analytical publication Christian Science Monitor writes that the agreement on Iran's nuclear program was the impetus for the development of Russia. According to experts, the successful completion of negotiations on Iran's nuclear program was a victory primarily for the Kremlin, as in case of the lifting of sanctions, Russia will be a new full-fledged economic partner. In addition, cooperation between the US and Russia on issues relating to Iran can bring positive results in other areas of cooperation between the two states, for example, in the settlement of conflicts in Syria and Ukraine.
The economic cooperation between Iran and Russia is already bearing fruit in the economy, and in the sphere of strategic planning the countries have been long-term partners. However, it is the first time in many years that Moscow and Tehran are not opposed to the West, but are equal partners in the multilateral relations. As expected, the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program has affected greatly the global political balance by moving it in unexpected ways toward rapprochement between such antagonists as Russia and the United States.
The online edition of Euronews reports about what stands behind the attack on the Turkish town of Suruc. The terrorist attack on July 20 in the town of Suruc in Turkey shocked the Turkish public. It is believed that the terrorist attack was planned and carried out by Islamic State. What did IS mean by attacking the Republic of Turkey?
The fact is that the leaders of Islamic State are not interested in a peaceful resolution of the Kurdish conflict in Turkey. If this happens, the leaders of the Kurds and the leadership of the Turkish Republic will come to an agreement, and a new state, which opposes the terrorist organization, will appear on the border with IS. That is why the attack in Suruc has became an open statement by the Islamic State that they do not support the peace process in Turkey.
In addition, the terrorist attack was a warning to the Turkish Republic. Despite the condemnation of the Western press, Turkey openly states that IS is a terrorist organization, and the Turkish leadership will not tolerate threats to be spread in the country. Dozens of IS followers have been arrested in Turkey recently, to which Islamic State responded with the attack in Suruc.
One last possible reason for the attack is the views on the political system. IS is sharply against any manifestation of democracy and defines the Turkish government and the majority of the Turks as ‘non-Muslims’, because the Republic is a secular state with a different understanding of religion than IS. In view of this, countries such as Turkey and Tunisia are the targets of IS, which is ready to use any methods to intimidate the international community.
