European experience in the fight against terrorism is useless for Russia

The murder of a Catholic priest in France became another reminder that the whole of Europe faces a terrorist threat. Today the new British Prime Minister Theresa May said that, despite Brexit, the UK's and Europe's secret services should strengthen cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

But it won't be easy. As a member of the International Relations Council under the Russian President, Bogdan Bezpalko, believes, "in Europe, human rights are a new religion, a new religion of tolerance, so even if a person is suspected of having ties with radical organizations, even if he is monitored, it is impossible to isolate him there. This issue is much more simple in the United States. Recall that during the war more than 100,000 Japanese were forced into internal camps for no reason."

He also expressed the opinion that the parties that spoke in favor of the restoration of national sovereignty, secession from the European Union and limiting migration will soon become popular in France. "Basically, restricting migration was one of the reasons for Brexit. This is what caused concern among British citizens. Similar sentiments also exist in France and Germany. But it is hard to tell whether they will use Russia's experience, because our experience is very special. It applies to those groups that fought in Russia's conditions. Regarding legislation, it is hard to imagine that France or Brussels would change it right now. There is still this principle of open borders. I can't imagine them using our experience," the expert said.

He believes that Russia will have to act at its own risk: "We have our own experts, our own counter-terrorism agencies, we have a bigger territory than France, and our borders with Central Asian countries are also much broader. It is good that we still have the 201st division on the border with Afghanistan and Tajikistan. We must strengthen it, so that the whole of Central Asia does not collapse in case of an attack from Afghanistan. We must strengthen our country. The European experience is useless for us. It is useful only in the sense that, thanks to it, we see what we should not do, how we should not act."
