Freshman’s Day was held in the Russian Song Theater, which was organized for Ingush students studying at Moscow universities. An hour before the concert, the head of the republic Yunus-bek Yevkurov and the Art Director of the theatre Nadezhda (meaning 'hope' in Russian) Babkina signed a cooperation agreement.
According to the Honored Artist, the document will pave the way for the prosperity of peace and harmony between the peoples of Russia. “We have forgotten that the older generation sets the foundation of our life. And it is necessary to pay attention to this. In this regard, Caucasian culture is a great example for all of us. When two leaders plan such events, it will enable the Moscow audience to become acquainted with the different national traditions of our country. That is, we are all divided, and it is a kind of bridge that makes all of us familiar, brings us together, reveals something of interest to each other. We cannot live in the same family, the so-called Russian family, being divided and without knowing anything about each other,” Nadezhda Babkina said.
Yunus-bek Yevkurov expressed confidence that the joint initiative will help to preserve the cultural heritage of the Ingush people: “Do you see who runs the Russian Song Theatre? We, too, need one or two such Nadezhdas that will lift the layer of our old Ingush songs.
If today our people do not particularly like to sit and sing songs, I remember those times when our old ladies sat and sang our Ingush folk songs. They sang, hands propping cheeks, singing, crying, tears streaming down, but they sang. It is necessary to revive this completely. I think that the agreement will provide a pretty serious opportunity for this.”
