Yesterday the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, stated on air on the Russia 24 channel that, due to the work of security officials, there were no terrorists of Islamic State in the republic. At the same time, according to him, natives of Chechnya are fighting in Syria, as they have come there from Turkey and Europe.
Recently, Dzhambulat Umarov, Minister for National Policy, External Relations, Press and Information of the Chechen Republic, shared the Chechen experience of anti-terrorist activity: “Personally, I am not a supporter of such terminology as traditional Islam or unconventional Islam. The Islamic religion calls for peace only. There are the appropriate verses from the Quran, which clearly state that peoples and nations are created, living on this planet just to enrich each other by interacting, knowing each other. A phenomenal occurrence such as Islamic civilization, the Islamic world that left its mark in historical science and even in the history of culture appeared due to these ayahs.”
According to Umarov, Islam was presented as a religion of creativity, as a civilization phenomenon which has played only a positive role in development of the humanity. “Islamic science has taught the Europeans all those things that they are proud of now. So there are things to remember, the way Europe learned about Plato and many other ancient philosophers, let them remember the history of the Moors, let them remember Andalusia. All these wonderful moments of our mutual cultures are deliberately and quite openly hidden, because now in that geopolitical game to which we are invited by the United States, those moments are negative for them. And overcoming the challenges, the information terrorist attacks of our ideological opponents, we should use these facts.”
Speaking about relations between the Islamic and Christian worlds, the Minister urged not to confuse the relationship of the Islamic world with the Orthodox Church and the relations of the Islamic world with Catholicism or Protestantism. “The history of the Crusades is another story. And the history of the mutual tradition of asceticism in Sufi Islam and the selfless devotion of the Russian Orthodox Church is a completely different story, a story that has created a great state, our country, the Russian Federation, and which is destined to be continued on the basis of these traditions, traditions of mutual influence that cements our cultures. On this basis, we will create a great Russian state, a great powerful state, which is now taking its first steps, including implementing its foreign policy interests in Syria, the Middle East, declaring itself to be an independent, sovereign state.”
