Leyla Aliyeva opens ‘Live Life’ exhibition in Berlin

This week, ‘Live Life’ exhibition opened in Berlin. The organizer of the Exhibition - the Public Association IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) - want by this exposure  to draw attention to the environmental protection. The exhibition was opened by the head of the Public Association IDEA, Leyla Aliyeva, whose works are also on display at the exhibition.

"It’s a pleasure for us to organize this exhibition in such a dynamic, beautiful and energetic city. As you can see this exhibition is dedicated to something that is important to all of us – it’s our nature and our environment. And so with these drawings, installations and paintings, we tried to highlight the beauty of nature and the magic of life. I think that no matter that we as humans create with our hands, we can never create anything as magical, special, and precious as life. Even if it’s a life of an insect or a life of a tree,’’  Aliyeva said, representing Azerbaijan, a country with a diverse and amazing nature.

"In fact it’s believed that we have 9 out of 11 climatic zones in Azerbaijan. 5 years ago we have created an IDEA company – the International dialogue for environmental action. And in these 5 years, we have implemented many projects and achieved quite good results, " the head of IDEA said.

With the help of the organization the population of gazelles in Azerbaijan was increased from 300 to 6000, more than 5 million trees were planted. The organization has organized classes, seminars, lectures for students at schools and universities, made documentaries, published books. One of the main focuses is still to protect the extinct species of animals, especially the Caspian sturgeon and Caucasian leopards.

"And it’s very good to know that today there’s a lot of people who evolve the environment. So I think this event gives us a big opportunity to exchange our ideas and make new contacts. It's time to act. Every hour, four elephants are killed by poachers, 11 thousand sharks are killed every hour. Recent research shows that global wildlife population has fallen by 58%. And it’s expected to fall by 67% by 2020. We can make a difference,’’ Leyla Aliyeva said.

She said that the revenues from the first  ‘Live Life’ exhibition in London were donated to the National Park Rescue Foundation: "It’s a great group of guys who risk their lives, they go to national parks and they secure them and they protect rhinos, elephants and lions from poachers.’’ From the Berlin exhibition all the revenues will be donated to clean up the Kura River - the main spawning area for sturgeons which is one of the ancient and interesting animals on the planet. After cleaning the river, will be able to increase the fish population.

"I really think that each one of us can make a difference in protecting our nature. But if we stick together, understand each other, get to know each other, we can really make a big difference and protect our planet,” Leyla Aliyeva said and thanked the organizers of the exhibition.

The artworks of the head of IDEA, Leyla Aliyeva, the artists Rahim Chopurov, Nailya Sultan, Julian Melchior, Maryam Alekperli, Laman Hasanova, Nock Kural, the videographer Timur Ozdemirov and photographer Theo Allofza are represented at the exhibition.

The exhibition will run until June 26th.
