"Living room of Qara Qarayev" opened at VDNKh

Now, a concert from the series "Living Room of Qaraev"in the conservatory of the pavilion "Azerbaijan" at the VDNH is taking place. It is conducted by the Children's Music School named after Qara Qarayev with the participation of other music schools in Moscow to popularize the work of one of the brightest representatives of the Dmitry Shostakovich school.

In 1946, Gara Garayev graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, class of composition by Shostakovich, and earlier Uzeyir Hajibeyov, the founder of the Baku Conservatory and the first professional composer of Azerbaijan, introduced Garayev to the secrets of Azerbaijani folklore, the art of ashugs and mugam.

Before the start of the concert, Saadat Kadyrova, director of the Azerbaijan Trade and Exhibition Center at VDNKh, told Vestnik Kavkaza: “We are opening a series of concerts” Living Room of Qara Qaraev. This is a very significant date, because Qaraev’s music is often played in our pavilion. This is the second event with the Moscow Music School which has been bearing the great composer's name with dignity for almost 20 years. It seems to me that such events are a serious link, the language of cultural diplomacy between Russia and Azerbaijan. Qaraev inscribed his name in golden letters in the world musical culture and today his works are played by children. They, like no one else, feel sincerity, feel love, feel warmth. Such events create such a platform between our countries, such a connection, such an indissoluble cultural history that cannot be broken by anything".

The children's music school named after Qara Qarayev is the only educational institution outside Azerbaijan that bears the name of the composer, whose music is always heard within the walls of the school, and many students perform the master's works at competitions, festivals, concerts, including international ones, where they become laureates and diploma winners. Director of the school Andrey Leonov in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza noted: “Our school is opening a cycle of concerts, which, we hope, will become a good tradition. It is assumed that music by Qaraev and his contemporaries will be played here. Such events help us to share our experience with colleagues, to share with each other the work of Qarayev, a composer who for the first time, in fact, decided to unite musical genres, and he did it very well. This is really worthy of respect."
