Moldova to choose

The Defense Minister of Moldova, Anatoly Shalaru, urged Russia to respect the neutrality of his country. At a meeting with the new Russian military attaché in Moldova, Igor Dobney, the minister called on Russia to withdraw its troops from Transnistria, as, in his opinion, they are there illegally, "which leads to the violation of the neutral status of Moldova." According to Interfax, in early autumn Shalaru refused any contact with the former military attaché of Russia, Viktor Teleshev, after he took part in a parade organized in honor of the 25th anniversary of the unrecognized Republic of Transnistria. The  Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova sent a note on this occasion to the Russian Embassy in Chisinau at the request of the Defense Minister. In October Teleshev was recalled to Russia after five years of service.

The Director General of the International Fund for Promotion of Culture, Science and Education 'Humanism, progress and the rule of law’', Yuri Nagernyak, is confident that tA stepping stone in Moldovan politics today is the selection of the vector either towards Europe or towards Russia, towards the EAEC: "And most often the choice is decided, at least in political terms, virtually. That is, someone likes more there, and for some reason, likes it, and it seems that there will be better, and someone wants here for certain reasons. And I think that there is a real opportunity to spread out the arguments on the shelves. Make them specific and compelling. In this sense, I would start with simple, accessible examples. "

Nagernyak offers to compare the situation of of Moldova and Bessarabia during their union with Romania between the wars and the position of the Moldavian SSR in the USSR: "I think that everyone who remembers this period himself, not from books or other people's stories, and those who themselves lived through this historical period, they speak unequivocally in favor of whom the choice should be made. If we consider those embraces that reveal Europe to Moldova, inviting the country to join the EU, I have no illusions here. Thank God our Moldovan friends are well aware, but I am not sure that the people of Moldova understand the situation completely. Why did I come to this conclusion? First, because the EU itself, by and large, does not need Moldova. It's just part of a global approach, global interests that are dominating, of course, not in the economic part, namely, in the political interest. The EU just wants to gather under one roof the whole of Europe, and without even small countries, without the same Moldova, Europe is not complete, and to solve all the issues at the political level by the people, the center of power, the center of power, which it has already developed. So, in fact, there is no real interest on the part of the EU in the economic integration of Moldova, including the proposal for Moldova to submit to economic partnership in full scale, and it is unlikely it will appear. "

The Eurasian situation, according to the expert, is completely different. "Here all the parties are more interested, of course, not excluding the political component, are interested in real economic integration. Look what happened when all the beautiful words were said to Moldova last year. After Russia was forced to forbid imports on a number of broad groups of products, vegetables from Moldova, Moldova simply ceased to produce these items. Now, relatively speaking, there is a kind of opportunity for Moldova to sell to Russia. And when we ask the Moldovan producers for these products, they do not have them. This year they have not been sown, not grown, because the Russian market was closed, and there is no one to trade with except Russia, and except on Russia to work, and there is no one to trade with except Russia, by and large, no one, because Moldova is a natural partner of Russia, of the EAEC.’’
