In June of next year, the Third Forum of Development of Parliamentarism will be held, which will be wider compared to last year in terms of representation and bring more than eight thousand politicians and 40 speakers of national parliaments from 132 countries, speaker of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky said. Summing up the results of the year, he came to the conclusion that "Moscow is becoming one of the interparliamentary capitals of the world, the capital of interparliamentary cooperation."
As for other formats, he mentioned the meeting of speakers of the parliaments of Eurasia, initiated by Russia and the Republic of Korea, which was held for the fourth time in Nur Sultan. "We will be actively preparing in the next, fifth meeting, which will be held in Indonesia. We have been holding this meeting in Moscow, Seoul, Antalya, and Nur-Sultan since 2016. European speakers have joined us now. There are already 65 states that are participating in it. We have a unique format for interparliamentary cooperation in the Greater Eurasia region. In other words, the integration processes are taking place in different parts of the big Eurasian continent, whether it is the EAEU, the SCO, the Silk Road Economic Belt, they're all in a single parliamentary dimension," Slutsky noted.
According to him, the format of the Conference of Parliament Speakers on Countering Terrorism and Strengthening Regional Cooperation is also rapidly developing: “These are six countries: Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Iran and Turkey. This conference creates parliamentary dimension in the future security architecture in the Eurasian space. The first conference was held in Islamabad, the second in Iran, the third in Istanbul, next year, perhaps we will hold it in one of Russia cities."
