No wars means no refugees

A Special Working Group on the issue of the refugees arriving in Europe has been established in the US State Department. In the future it will be able work on similar crises in other parts of the world. According to TASS, the US has allocated 26.6 million dollars to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to assist refugees, including those from Syria, who are arriving on the territory of Greece, Macedonia and Serbia. According to the State Department, at the start of the conflict in Syria, the United States took about 1500 refugees from this country and are going to take another 300.

The Chairman of the Public Council under the Federal Migration Service of Russia, Professor of Public Administration and Political Technologies Department of the Institute of Public Administration and Law SUM, Vladimir Voloh, says that Europe itself does a lot in terms of providing international protection to refugees. "At the same time, in my opinion, the main reason is that we should still prevent war, the conflicts that arise. In this case, we are not confronted with the reason why there are refugees. This is a consequence of what has been done. If there had not been so many military operations in their respective territories, there would not be such a large number of refugees. Maybe there would have been some, as there were before. Of course, in my opinion, now is the time to try to resolve the situation in those countries on whose territories there are wars, along with diplomatic, preventative measures. And, of course, this is the main thing that can help to reduce sharply the number of foreign nationals who are seeking international protection, seeking shelter in other countries in accordance with international law, in accordance with the Geneva Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and other documents," Voloh believes.

The Deputy Director of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations Vladimir Zorin says that Europe has programs, developed in four areas, so that immigrants would be accepted and formalized. "But this surge associated with the intensification of hostilities has never been seen before, such figures have not been observed, this is probably not the end of Europe, as some are already saying, but the numbers are very significant and they have immediately posed a few questions."

Zorin reminded about the Dublin Convention, according to which the right to asylum is given by the first country which accepts refugees: And now, it turns out that the countries receiving refugees are the poorest. Now these countries are more interested in the transit of these refugees, so they quickly let them go. The most striking example is Hungary and Germany. Generally, of course, refugees go to Norway, but they want to go to Germany."
