Philosopher: “Our truth is diffused by social networks’ activity”

Varvara Karaulova, a student of the Philosophy Department of MSU, is staying in a pretrial detention center for 6 weeks. She is accused of contacts with Daesh. She celebrated her 20th birthday in pretrial custody. He father told Komsomolskaya Pravda yesterday that the girl was recruited by a group of people. “The scale of the phenomenon is not limited to Moscow, Russia, the North Caucasus. We wrote and texted to parents, uncles, aunts, sisters: we are losing our children. These are people who live in St. Petersburg, Rostov, Krasnodar. I talked to people from Spain, Italy, the UK, the USA. The phenomenon has a global scale. Serious money is paid for the heads of our children. If it is a white virgin who speaks several languages, the price is getting higher, even though it sounds rude,” the father of the student said.

Stanislav Bushev, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, thinks that if you perceive the formation of the unity of training and education, this has not been removed from us, and our education system in its best tradition has been set up this way, including upbringing. Unfortunately, in a series of steps in connection with the reform of education and so on, some of the bonds were broken. Parents still cannot always influence their children, especially when the children are adults. And here we must look for the origins of already-established such relations, the possibility of returning, probably, to some family values.

“This is a very big challenge, it comes at all levels, it falls not only on teachers, it falls on tutors in kindergartens, on teachers in schools, but most importantly, it falls on the family. Universities have corresponding departments in universities that are engaged in so-called ’extra-classroom’ work, which includes educational work. We are working with people who have become personalities, and there are some features, and a teacher should be ready. We always look at the role of the teacher. If we say that this is a pastoral model, we understand that it is often a single channel. That is, when the pastor speaks to the congregation, the congregation listens to it as if it is the truth. Now we understand that our truth, and our department has eroded the influence of this same social network. We understand that there are other authorities, we realize how many young people spend their time, what sort of interests they have and so on. A field of unequal relationships develops in this way. We can lose in this field if we do not start to absorb properly and somehow, after all, weed out the weeds,” Stanislav Bushev states.

According to him, not a pastoral, but rather a collegial model should dominate in universities: “We're trying to find some horizontal bonds, not only vertical, but also horizontal, to show, to fit into a system of values of the generation of adolescents and somehow try to understand their aspirations and, in some cases, if there is some threat, to correct."
