Russian Muslims condemn terrorist attacks in Paris

The causes and consequences of Friday's terrorist attacks in Paris are still being commented on all over the world. On November 15th terrorists took hundreds of hostages in the Bataclan Concert Hall; at the same time, there was shooting at Rue de Charonne, Rue Alibert, Rue de la Fontaine au roi, Boulevard Voltaire; bombs exploded near the Stade de France Stadium, where a football match between France and Germany was taking place. According to the latest information, 129 people were killed, and 352 people were injured. Islamic State, the terrorist group, took responsibility for the terrorist attack which became the most bloody in the history of France.

Rushan Abbyasov, the first deputy chairman of the Russian Council of Muftis of Russia and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, stated that terrorism is becoming global in nature, it constitutes a real threat to the entire community around the world: “The structures that threaten the world do not represent in any case Islam, do not represent Muslims. ISIS, Al-Qaeda and the like, they are created, first of all, to fight Islam, to fight Muslims, to spread such a terrible threat as an inter-religious conflict or sectarian war. From this conflict, people of different nationalities, different religions, different social status – innocent people suffer.”

Abbyasov recalls that Russia is also faced with the fact that in the North Caucasus and in some other parts of the country people have suffered at the hands of terrorists and bandits, including our religious leaders, imams, muftis, rectors of Islamic schools in the past few years, the last 10-15 years; these were the people who certainly spread the true values of Islam.

According to the religious activist, the radicals “are brazen and hide behind some excerpts out of the context of the Holy Quran, thus trying to encourage today's youth to stand up ostensibly, in their view, on the true path. Of course, they are misleading, including our youth… If anyone has any questions about Islam, our mosques, our Muslim centers, houses of worship are open to the public. And, of course, we also ask parents to monitor their children closely. Today, unfortunately, we see that a lot of our children are addicted to a variety of games on the internet, where you must kill, there is blood and so on. And we see psychologically how it affects the younger generation. And after a while, unfortunately, they want to become fighters, taking not a toy machine gun, or a gun, or a pistol, but, unfortunately, a real one. And they believe that in such a way they can conquer some kind of unfair treatment towards them.”

Abbyasov encourages parents “to closely interact with children, to find out, not to reject in any case, if children take some decisions. For our part, we attract young people to creativity, we organize a wide variety of volunteer movements, which offer young people the true values, the spiritual values of Islam. Representatives of different religions, different nationalities, from different segments of the population are involved in our activities. And our religion brings the way of creativity, kindness and mercy. Therefore, we call on today's youth to this creative path, and in any case not to succumb to false provocations of bandits and terrorists, who want to sow discord, want us to get locked into a conflict that cannot be stopped and could last many decades or, God forbid, a century. Because religious conflicts, religious wars, are almost impossible to stop.”
