Ballet is considered to be a pan-Russian heritage, recognized around the world. On March 29th in Moscow the stage of the 'Russia' concert hall in Luzhniki will host the second children's charity dance festival 'Svetlana'. Organizers say that its extraordinary idea, original stage direction, bright scenography, unique concept and grandiosity of stage action will not leave any spectator indifferent. Dance collectives from around the country will demonstrate the different styles and directions of dance that are professionally taught in Russia. The festival will be attended by children aged from 7 to 16 years. The 'Svetlana' festival is designed to help young and talented dancers to not remain unnoticed.
The idea of the festival was proposed last year by People's Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Prize of Russia, prima ballerina of the Bolshoi theater Svetlana Zakharova. A year ago 400 children performed in the 'Russia' concert hall of the 'Luzhniki' Sports Palace, they presented different styles: classical ballet, folk, pop, modern dance, modern jazz, contemporary.
The festival is considered to be the most ambitious project of the Zakharova Foundation, which has been operating since December 2011. At the time, the ballet dancer has established a scholarship for the best three students of the choreography department of Saratov Art College. The initiative proved to be popular. Now the announced tasks of the fund are the development of traditions in the field of culture and choreography; popularization of ballet art; support for young ballet dancers, assistance to social rehabilitation and provision of financial assistance from the 'Ballet Veterans' fund; promotion of voluntary activities; and the establishment of awards for outstanding achievements in choreography.
This year, according Zakharova, 500 children will perform on a huge podium with a professional ballet coating. The geography of the participants in the festival is wide – Irkutsk, Astrakhan, Izhevsk, Samara, Kerch, Ulyanovsk, Orenburg, Podolsk, Korolev and Moscow.
