The US publication the Heritage Foundation wrote about an alternative to the agreement on Iran's nuclear program. The administration of the US President stubbornly continues to insist that there is no better option for relations with Iran than the signed agreement in Vienna. But the fact is that many opponents of rapprochement with Iran insist that the best alternative to the nuclear deal may be more sanctions against the Republic.
The agreement reached in Vienna includes restrictions on the program of uranium enrichment in Iran in exchange for sanctions relief. However, opponents of Iran insist that Iran is likely to continue to develop its nuclear program, and if the sanctions are lifted, then it will be very difficult to re-impose them. In addition, the West feared that after the lifting of sanctions Iran will take a leading position in the Middle East, and the probability of economic growth threatens the United States. Besides, if Iran maintains its nuclear program, then Saudi Arabia will also require exactly the same privileges. Israel, in turn, fears that Iran, having economic freedom, will pose a threat to the state.
However, if the agreement will be blocked by Congress, the review of the Iranian issue will be given to the next US administration, which is unlikely to like the appearance of a powerful state in the Middle East. Analysts agree with the opinion that we should probably not expect much change in the status of Iran. Of course, this is an alternative for America. But to the Western community, which is trying unsuccessfully to resolve the tensions in the world from year to year, it would be a step backwards.
The US analytical magazine TIME wrote about the reasons why Turkey has declared war on the Islamic State. For the past two years the Turkish Republic has been trying to resist the onslaught of ISIS on the common border with Syria. This opposition is more like a ‘cold war’, in which both parties were trying to avoid an open conflict. The Turkish government rightly believes that the fight against the ISIS is a struggle with the symptom, not the cause of the disease. However, the attack by Islamic State on the Turkish city of Suruç on Monday became a cause of change in the attitude of the Turkish authorities to ISIS. The terrorist attack became a warning to the world about the growing influence of the organization.
After a protracted conflict with the Kurds, the leadership of the Turkish Republic decided for the first time to fight an external and not an internal threat. According to analysts, Turkish participation in the fight against ISIS can change the situation in the region. Turkish military experience and knowledge of the terrain is likely to be used very effectively against Islamic State. Unfortunately, to date, ISIS positions are getting stronger, and only the combined efforts of the world powers, as well as a sound approach to the elimination of the threat, can lead to positive results.
