The Conversation: It is more profitable for US to cooperate with Russia than to interfere with it

The US analytical publication of the Cato Institute wrote that NATO is afraid of Russian assistance to Greece. In the midst of the negotiations between Greece and the European Union, many analysts fear that if the European Community would not be able to keep the Greek State, in this case, the superiority is on the side of Russia. The "geopolitical catastrophe" for the West that would follow Greek’s exit from the eurozone means that NATO would lose one of its members, and this, in turn, would be followed by a weakening of the organization in the world, and a strengthening of the position of the Kremlin. Speculation that the Cold War continues has already begun in the media.

However, we should take into account the fact that Russia is not the enemy of the Western countries, but rather a partner with equal rights, and by which it is necessary to solve the world's major conflicts. In addition, the European Union is unlikely to solve the problem of Greece without assistance, which the Russian side can provide. European analysts agree that the US should stop interfering in the affairs of the EU and Russia and stop putting pressure on it, which in turn could be decisive for a resolution of problems, at least in Europe.

The need for a constructive dialogue is evident in today's Europe, and Russia must not be considered as an enemy but as an ally capable of ensuring an equal balance of power on the European political scene.

The independent US publication The Conversation wrote today that there are at least three reasons why the United States should not call Russia the greatest threat to the world. Despite statements by senior US officials that the Kremlin is the enemy of Washington, the Obama administration is trying paradoxically to normalize relations with Moscow.

There is no doubt that the differences between the two countries began aftet Washington attempted to dismiss the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych from power, and Crimea, in turn, became a part of Russia. Despite the tensions, however, threats and recriminations are not a method for establishing constructive relations. In addition, the United States should be more cautious in its reckless statements against Russia. First of all, this concerns the military potential of both countries. If the US and NATO continue their invasive policy on the borders with Russia, there is a risk that the Kremlin will resist western countries, which, in turn, will exacerbate even further the relations between the two countries.

The second reason why the US should not describe Russia as enemy number one is the status of Russia as a superpower, which is able to influence world politics significantly. If the West finally realizes that Russia can be a partner, not an opponent, there is a chance that the conflict situation eventually loses its relevance.

And the third reason is the strong anti-American sentiment in Russia. The bigger and stronger the Western media propaganda against Russia is, the stronger the rejection of the Western population. The stronger the sanctions against Moscow, the stronger the state becomes, which is gaining new partners and signing new contracts that are cost-effective. From a strategic and economic point of view, for the US it is much more profitable to cooperate with Russia than to interfere with it. As history shows, if the parties are willing to cooperate, they should not go the way of accusations and disagreements.
