'Turetsky Choir' marks 25th anniversary

This year 'Turetsky Choir' is marking 25th anniversary. The basis of the unique concept of the ensemble is 'live' voices. Artists perform compositions in more than ten languages without a phonogram, including a cappella, and can replace an orchestra with their voices.

The Choir plans to perform 150 concerts within the anniversary tour.

“We started early, so our childhood, adolescence, youth and maturity – all of this is combined in our creative path. We've been through hell, but there is no feeling that we are coming from the bazaar. We have a certain zenith, and there are a lot of closed doors, a lot of unfulfilled ambitions. We are still young, I'm almost the oldest member of collective. The average age of the artists is 43 years. A lot of guys, 6 people, started together with me from scratch, since those times, the early '90s. They were 19-20 years old. And then, what does our 25 years period mean? This is colossal, titanic work. A huge number of rehearsal days. We practiced at night, practiced when it was not our main job. Gathered at 7pm, and left only at 2am. Then, there was not a single day, except for 3-4 days off in the month, when we were not rehearsing and were not singing. We counted, we have an archivist, who records our performances since the first day of rehearsals and concerts, we have performed on stage more than 5000 times – those are large concerts, participation in corporate events, song festivals, television programs, and many different events that require musical service. traveled more than 3 million kilometers, which is 75 equators. In the Far East alone we have probably performed 15 times. We flew 50 times just to the US in 25 years,” Mikhail Turetsky says.

According to the head of the Choir, the musicians have motivation: “We have already accumulated mutual crazy exchange of energy with our audience. And we know that if we will not hold back, that if today's performance will be like it is the last time, we can afford to burn ourselves to ashes, but for sure, we will rise from the ashes like the phoenix. Because the energy of the cosmos and the powerful, colossal wave of kindness that comes from the audience, which is really relaxed and really feels happy, and gives us this energy, so we do not feel tired, depressed, or used. We are really in the right place, we have this crazy motivation; we can't live without it.”
