The US Secretary of State John Kerry at talks in Moscow said that President Barack Obama is ready to lift the sanctions against Russia if all the provisions of the Minsk agreements on Ukraine will be carried out. The specific decisions taken in the course of the visit of the US Department of State have not been announced, some experts believe that such meetings are necessary for any future compromises. "A serious approach and the cooperation taking place between the two countries has led to serious results, particularly in regard to the life of the Syrian population. Many observers believed that a cessation of hostilities would be impossible to achieve. However, thanks to our cooperation, military as well as political, a lot of effort was applied for this cooperation to take place," Kerry said at the talks in Moscow.
Analyzing the results of the visit, the director of the International Fund for the Promotion of Culture, Science and Education ‘Humanism, Progress and Rule of Law’, Yuri Nagernyak, said that the negotiations should be assessed from several points of view: "The Americans in their foreign policy are strictly based on their own understanding of their national interests. Therefore expect that negotiations, even four-hour, or even two- day long, can lead to changes in looking at things, looking at the world, of course, is very difficult. Another thing is that this is not a normal situation, when the diplomatic contacts between the two countries, which play a very important role in the international politics, have been actually broken. Therefore, a complex, unstable, confusing situation in the world requires these contacts to be carried out on a regular basis, and at a sufficiently high level."
Nagernyak believes that "the Americans have a shock due to the change in the Russian foreign policy, due to the dramatic increase of the Russian foreign policy, which took place over the past few years. On the other hand, those conflicts that arose between the two countries have already led to serious inconsistencies on specific points on the world map. There was a time when the Americans did not want to accept the position of Russia as a whole, denied it clearly. This led to the fact that a period of significant cooling during the period of sanctions was the period of absence of contacts de facto. But the world is changing, the USA has had to take into account the position of the Russian Federation and try to optimize the system of relations between the two countries. But this does not mean that they will accept the position of Russia. They will just try to consider it in their interests."
