USA: week before presidential elections

A week before the presidential elections in the US, ratings of both candidates are almost equal, and a fight between them has become tougher. Democrat Hillary Clinton heavily criticized Republican Donald Trump for his attitude to women and girls, stating that he didn’t consider women ‘are not people.’

In his turn Trump accused his rival of receiving questions for presidential debates beforehand and of an attempt to drag Washington into a military conflict against Moscow in Syria that could lead to the World War III.

Clinton urged her opponent to reveal his ties with the Kremlin.

Analyzing the candidates’ behavior, Valery Garbuzov, the Director of the Institute for the USA and Canada of the RAS, noted that “Trump reduced tension of his statements on the Spanish-speaking population, because he realized that at the beginning of the campaign, he had frightened them away. Now he has to get them back. Today Trump doesn’t make harsh statements on women. However, his previous statements are enough for women to hate him. He is trying to gather electorate.”

According to Garbuzov, both Trump and Clinton have powerful mobilized abilities: “It is a truthful fact that Trump has managed to attract a part of electorate of the Democratic Party, primarily industrial workers, blue collars, who live in the American periphery. It is a reality that he has managed to attract a part of black electorate. Whether it will play its role on the election day or not, we’ll see. It is difficult to knock Hillary Clinton out of her stride, despite all scandals. Scandals accompany Bill and Hillary Clinton during their whole lives. And they are always rock-solid.”
