Washington Post: "Will Iran be able to return to the global economy as a full player"

The international publication Al-Monitor, specializing in the analysis of events in the Middle East, wrote that Russia is regaining its position in the world political arena. The main topic of the last weeks has been the Russian military intervention in the Syrian conflict. A huge amount of speculation on the part of the Western media and attempts to discredit the Kremlin cannot hide the fact that Russia is far more effective than all the other states that are trying to fight terrorism in the Middle East.

The indignation of the US is quite justified, because the Obama administration has not had time to think of retaliatory steps against the actions of Moscow. The fact that Iran has joined Russia and actively helps in the fight against Islamic State especially annoys Washington. In addition, the international reputation of the United States has been significantly affected after Russia began active operations in Syria. Many Western analysts are already saying that it is unlikely the US campaign can bring any positive results in the resolution of the Syrian crisis.

Despite the power possessed by the Kremlin, the leadership of the state urges the US to cooperate, fairly thinking that joint actions will be much more successful than confrontation. However, the US government is not ready to have a cooperation agreement, preferring to stick to its line of foreign policy, without realizing that such behavior is unlikely to yield any results for the United States.

Europe, in turn, is becoming aware of the need for partnership with Russia, realizing that coping with the crisis in Syria and the flow of migrants is not possible for Brussels. Thus, America in this position dooms itself to isolation, continuing the information war against Russia. Russia, in turn, makes a strong statement about its leading position in international politics, maintaining the status as the only state capable of resisting US hegemony.

The Washington Post writes about the reason Sunday is an important day for Iran. 90 days after the signing of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, the deal comes into effect, which means the dismantling of the Iranian nuclear facilities in exchange for the cancellation of the international sanctions.

In fact, the sanctions will not be lifted until the International Atomic Energy Agency confirms a reduction in the real number of nuclear facilities in Iran. On Sunday, the US Treasury Department must announce the timeframe in which the Western anti-Iranian sanctions are expected to be lifted.

An immediate lifting of the sanctions is expected not only by Iran, but also by the European countries that are ready to invest immediately in the development of the state economy.

The main problem lies in the fact that, despite the agreement, the two sides still do not trust each other, making it difficult to progress on the issue of the removal of restrictions from the Iranian government. If the sanctions are not cancelled by the Obama administration, the fate of the agreement during the term of the next US president is still unknown. Anyway, at the moment the situation remains unchanged, but it is likely that Iran will be able to return to the global economy as a full player in the very near future.
