Azerbaijan in Estonia

Little time has passed since the opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Estonia, but the local Azerbaijani communities have already seen certain changes. The latest events inspire optimism: the victory of Azerbaijani singers at the Eurovision Song Contest supported by Estonia, celebrations of independence in Ratusha that have become annual, regular broadcasting of the Voice of Azerbaijan Radio Station in Estonia, the  invitation of Estonian politicians and media to Baku, the opening of a school in the Azerbaijani language in Tallinn and the CIS festival of Russian films. A film “There Were No Better Brothers” was made by Azerbaijan and Russia in 2011, directed by Murad Ibragimbekov, written by Pavel Finn and produced by Rustam Ibragimbekov.

Another significant event has recently happened in the life of Estonia and Azerbaijan. “Baku” magazine has changed its printing office and moved it to Tallinn. The third release describes the life, history, traditions and culture of Azerbaijan and is published at the Printal printing office in Tallinn. The city distributes copies of the magazine in Europe.Subscribing to the magazine can be done via the Internet. “Baku” magazine can be purchased in all Estonian cities.

The two peoples are not only close through deals and memorandums, they are linked with words. It is essential for people from different states, nationalities and religions to interact through books, magazines, films. They need to visit each other, learn about each other’s cultures and traditions, hear their music, read the magazine. Learning turns into respect, respect turns into friendship, friendship becomes cooperation and mutual support. This means that the basis for close mutually-beneficial relations has been set.
