Today in Baku School of journalistic skills organized by RIA Novosti and Center for Political Studies "North-South" begins its work. In an interview with News-Azerbaijan Deputy Director General of the Center "North-South" Julia Yakusheva commented on the goals and objectives of the School.
- How would you describe the main objective of the School of journalistic skills?
- Its main goal is transfer of experience, discussion of new information technologies, exchange of views on the most important issues of modern media space – these are interrelated problems, and communication with the young Azerbaijani journalists is a two way street. I believe that even for the venerable Russian journalists it will be useful to "plunge" into a national content, the more so because, besides media professionals, the School will involve the participation of historians and political scientists - Gennady Bordyugov, Ismail Agakishiyev, Alexei Vlasov. Such a representative composition of speakers must provide a high quality of the School.
- As part of the School presentation events will also be held. What projects are scheduled to be presented to Azerbaijani audience?
- New works by Russian historians will be presented in the House of the Russian book. This is a very important step on the way to turning the House of Books into a functioning center of attraction in terms of cultural and humanitarian image of Russia. And this is not just a one-off event; the history department of Moscow State University plans to provide continued assistance in the supply of textbooks and works of Russian historians of interest to Azerbaijani readers. In addition, the school will include the presentation of information agency Vestnik Kavkaza, which is mostly active in the format of the South Caucasus.
- What kind of product do the organizers of the School plan to get "out"?
- I have just said that we are talking about professional communications. The participants from the Azerbaijani side are already experienced journalists. They can get some additional information on the new technologies used in the modern media. There is an opportunity to exchange views on important methodological issues of tolerance in the media, information image of the South Caucasus, and more, not less interesting topics. This is not an one-off action. It is planned that these schools will be held at least three times a year.
