Trying to resist eternal messages on crimes committed in Dagestan, the authorities of the republic set positive things against it. 'Different Dagestan' was presented at “Parlamentskaya Gazeta” in Moscow - ethnic music was played, dancing groups performed and films about Dagestan were shown for the guests of the event. Folk craft products were demonstrated and guests had an opportunity to try ethnic cuisine. The event was organized by representatives of political and creative elite of Dagestan.
“Ethnic art is very bright in Dagestan, for example the music, dances, languages and costumes,” Jennet Samasova, chairwoman of the Social Council Committee on Cultural Heritage under the permanent delegation of Dagestan in Moscow, says. “That’s why composing and musical schools are so bright and beautiful. In Dagestan there are many nations, but also every village presents its unique cultural production. Due to geographical conditions, when villages were hard to access, each of them produced something unique. These were unique costumes, dancing movements, tunes, ornaments. The art is full of many sides; it’s like a mosaic.”
Patimat Gammadova, fine art expert, says that it would be great to hold more such arrangements to know the right attitude towards Dagestan, according to Dagestanis, real Dagestanis, to hear the truth.”
“There were no borders in the Soviet Union. There were no borders in Russia. We visited each other without special invitations and were always welcomed warmly,” Vadi Magamed Magatayev, first deputy permanent envoy of Dagestan under President of the RF, recalls. “From this point of view, Dagestan has always been and remains a very hospitable region. The problems occurred in Dagestan in recent decades. It is no secret that perestroika processes touched on the economy of the country in general, including Dagestan. As the republic is rather small, the processes which took place in our country expressed themselves most brightly in Dagestan. Now Dagestan is being renewed. It is connected with the new head of the Republic of Dagestan, Ramazan Abdulatiov. He has analyzed the situation in the republican economy, and not only the economy, but the whole household of the republic, including culture, social questions; and he proposed 10 priority projects several months ago. Titles of the projects are self-explanatory: economy whitewash; growth area establishing; investments to Dagestan, including not only federal investments, but also such programs as ‘Businessmen are Dagestan’s strength’; new industrialization; effective state management; effective territorial management; effective agricultural complex; new Dagestan branding; human resources which include such programs as Educated Dagestan, Culture and Cultural Policy of Dagestan, Healthy Dagestan and Social Defense. Of course everybody knows that there is a big problem with security and law in Dagestan. Many issues which are being discussed today are connected with security. There are vast opportunities for development of tourism in Dagestan, and we hope that in the near future many residents of our big country, Russia, will visit Dagestan.”
