Petr Lukimson, Israel. Exclusively to VK
The German Springer publication has issued the fundamental monograph of the Israeli researchers L. Eppelbaum and B. Hesin “Geophysical Studies in the Caucasus.”
It is no accident that one of the major scientific publications ordered the monograph from Eppelbaum and Hesin. Both scientists are alumni of the Azerbaijani School of Geophysics. Both worked in Baku in the Southern Department of the R&D Establishment of Geophysics before moving to Israel. The majority of their work is devoted to geographic studies and search for natural resources in Azerbaijan. Thus, the monograph contains information on Azerbaijan.
At the same time, the book doesn’t only concentrate on Azerbaijan, but covers the Greater and Lesser Caucasus, the Kura Gorge, and some neighboring territories. Therefore, the monograph by Eppelbaum and Hesin could be equally interesting for geologists and geophysics of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, and Russia. It could support them in search for underground water, oil and gas fields, minerals, gold, molybdenum and other natural resources.
Moreover, the methods described in the book could be used in any place in the world, especially in difficult mountainous areas. “We secured an order for the book five years ago,” Professor Lev Eppelbaum told VK. “The interest in the theme is understandable: the Caucasus had been the main geophysical platform of the USSR, and the accumulated experience is priceless. I think we have made a great and important work; the book will be useful for our colleagues."
