China has published an official list of 30 historic and cultural street-monuments, which includes Russian Street. It was founded in 1907 and was a part of the former infrastructure of the Chinese Eastern Railway. The detail is a link in the chain of friendly steps by Moscow and Beijing toward each other.
Vladimir Dzhabarov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, presents his view on Russian-Chinese relations: “I remember the Victory Parade which we held on the 9th of May. I think that our Western partners were amazed by two things: by the Armata tank, which fascinates everyone, and by the fact that the Chinese leader was present at all the events near our president, and this emphasized his special favor. Is it known what most surprised our Western partners - the Armata tank, or the active Chinese rapprochement with Russia?”
According to Dzhabarov, the Chinese are ready for equal cooperation: “I represent the Far East region, the Jewish Autonomous Region. Chinese people began to settle in the Amur Region, the Jewish autonomy, Khabarovsk Territory. Frankly speaking, we have not felt any expansion for 25-30 years. The Chinese have taught us to grow soybeans. The Chinese have taught our farmers to work hard. They work from six a.m. till sunset.
We are threatened that citizens of China will occupy our empty lands. They won’t do it. The Chinese cherish their land and their country. Even if a Chinese citizen dies abroad, they always return the ashes to China, their home. Russia is a friendly land for them, but not their native land.”
The senator welcomes Russian-Chinese rapprochement: “We loved Europe so long that we almost forgot about Asia. In the past, the Chinese learned a lot from us. By the way, they remember very well, that is why they are so thankful up to now. Today we have to learn from them. I had the honor to receive a small Chinese delegation at the Federation Council. There were ordinary builders from one of the regions in China. We discussed the building of economy class housing. They asked: "How much time do you need to build a seventeen-storey house?’’ "Well, a couple of years at most,’’ we answered. They can build it in 3.5 months. They build it like Lego. Do they have something to teach? They do. We should use good examples in our work. I am welcoming the rapprochement of our country with China. I hope that this rapprochement can calm down many hotheads in the West.”
