The Armenian patriarch's historic visit to Georgia has ended
The first official visit of the Armenian Patriarch Karekin the Second to Georgia for a very long period of time is an historic event in the history of both Churches, which dates back to the beginning of Christianity.
The aim of the visit was solve (or to find a way to solve) several important problems in the relations between the Georgian and the Armenian Orthodox Churches.
One of the most acute of such problems is the question of how to identify the status of six Armenian churches situated on Georgian territory, five of which are in Tbilisi.
Meeting the Armenian Patriarch, Georgian Patriarch Ilia the Second said that the status of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia will be the same as the status of the Georgian Diocese in Armenia.
Evidently, the parties didn't manage to come to agreement.
