Eurasian party won’t appear in Georgia

After publication of the article by Vladimir Putin on the establishment of the Eurasian Union, the question arose: whether the program of new integration presupposes the development of a political force which would act in the former Soviet republics and lobby the idea of coming closer within the Common Economic Space and EurAsES.
In Georgia the idea of a Eurasian party was met with fierce opposition. VK addressed all the parties that play at least a small role in political life, with the corresponding question.
Right-wing and pro-Western parties (the Republicans, New Rights, Free Democrats) consider the possibility of cooperation with any party supporting integration of former Soviet space as unacceptable. “It mustn’t be. We won’t even think about it,” one of the heads of the Tbilisi section of New Rights, Vazha Kelasuridze, told VK.
The general secretary of Labour party, Iosif Shatberashvili, answered indirectly: “We actively cooperate and are ready to cooperate with leftist parties of Russia and other republics, but we have never heard about the establishment of any Eurasian party. Does this party exist?”
The fact that the Labourites decided not to comment on the article by Vladimir Putin indicates that the prospect of establishing a united party in the former Soviet space doesn’t impress them.
Even representatives of political parties whose leaders visit Moscow often and meet Russian politicians said they have no intention of entering a coalition which supports the unity of the former Soviet republics.
At the same time, Georgian laws strictly coordinate rules for political organizations and prohibit the establishment of parties financed from abroad. Laws also prohibit parties whose headquarters are situated abroad. Thus, no Eurasian party will appear in Georgia.
