Israeli authorities remain indifferent to the statement made by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan concerning Israel after his return from Iran. “A regional conflict of such scale will not end as the US war in Iraq. Such operation will cause a breakdown in the whole region”, Erdogan said.
Israeli observers note that when Erdogan was making such anti-Israeli and pro-Iranian statements made in Tehran, he knew that Turkey was reducing oil imports from Iran. It was definitely a necessary step, otherwise Ankara would face US sanctions.
Meanwhile, Turkey organized social polls on whether Ankara needs a nuclear program. 54% of the population says that if Iran has nuclear weapons, Turkey needs them too.
Israel is having intensive social polls about the Iranian nuclear program. According to polls in late March by the Jerusalem Sociological Institute of Kamil Fuks, 77% of Israelis say that the Iranian nuclear program is a threat to Israel, 60% believe that the problem can only be resolved by the military, 66% say that Israel will succeed in the operation, 65% believe that Israel will pay a dear price for a strike on Iran, but it would be a smaller price than the one it will pay if Iran gets a nuclear bomb.
