An interview with Moldovan ombudsman Aurelia Grigoriu in Tabula Rasa caused lively interest in other German media as well. The publication was discussed on pages of FOCUS. “In the interview the young Moldovan ombudsman analyses the situation with human rights in Moldova and Armenia. Constant violation of human rights is common practice in the post-Soviet space,” FOCUS comments. “One of the central themes of the interview was the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which has occupied Azeri territories,” FOCUS notes.
The Moldovan ombudsman got into trouble in Yerevan after her speech in the Armenian parliament at the European Scientific Conference in July. Aurelia Grigoriu pointed at the fact of occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia and massacres committed by the Armenians in Khodjaly. It caused anger on the part of the Armenian authorities and society, and she couldn’t leave Armenia. It was only through Georgian and Romanian diplomats that she managed to leave the country.
