French learn about Karabakh

The French magazine “Diplomatie” has published a big article about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The article was published by the Center for Analysis and Forecasts of International Risks, financed within the framework of the grant contest for foreign NGOs of the Azerbaijani Presidential Council for State Support of NGOs, Trend reports on Tuesday.

The article gives detailed information about over a million forced migrants who left their lands as a result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Despite resolutions and decisions of the UNSC, OSCE, CE and other international organizations, Armenia continues occupation of Azerbaijani lands.

The magazine presents maps of occupied districts, places of forced migrants and former tent camps. It gives information about new residential areas built according to the state program to improve living conditions of refugees and displaced persons and to increase their employment rate.

The magazine published photos of the Khojaly genocide.

20,000 copies of the magazine are published and distributed in 40 countries of the world every two months. Politicians, scientists, historians and other active public figures are the main readers.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries started in 1988 in the light of territorial pretensions of Armenia towards Azerbaijan. Nagorno-Karabakh and seven nearby districts are 20% of Azerbaijani territories that remain under Armenian occupation.

In May 1994, the sides reached a ceasefire agreement. The peace process, assisted by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group (Russia, France, U.S.), has been fruitless so far. Four resolutions of the UN Security Council demanding Armenia to free Nagorno-Karabakh and nearby districts have not been fulfilled by Armenia.
